Hoistable/liftable panel/deck arrangements and internal ramps

  1. Hoistable panel/deck arrangements should be adjusted properly in accordance with the pre-stowage plan prior to loading.
  2. Adjustment of panel/decks to be properly supervised to ensure that latches, hooks etc. is in correct position to avoid damage to panel(s) or cargo.
  3. Vessel crew should fully understand how to operate the hoistable panel/decks and internal ramps.
  4. In addition, at least two (2) crew members should always oversee the operation.
  5. If adjustment of internal ramps or panels is to be carried out during cargo operation, block the driveway before any handling is started, to make it clear that access is not permitted until clear information from the crew is given. See picture 1 (as example blocking only) of a blocked driveway. See picture 2 for a none-approved blocking.
  6. All car decks, ramps and lifting appliances should be kept free of water, oil grease or any liquid that might cause a person or vehicles to slip or fall.
