Unitising of steel pipes

  1. Pipes shall be unitised as instructed.
  2. Usually, pipes shall be placed on bolsters layer by layer, with timber of sufficient strength and dimension between each layer.
  3. Bundles of small pipes should be unitised as above unless otherwise instructed.
  4. Wedges shall, if required or so instructed, be fastened under each of the outermost pipes on top of timber laid across both ends of bolsters.
  5. Steel banding of sufficient strength must be used. Wire lashings with turnbuckles shall be used if required or so instructed.
  6. Pipes loaded on roll trailers shall always use 3 stanchions on each side regardless of height. If packed in bundles it can be reconsidered depending on way of bundling. i.e., if it can collapse or not.
